Liberty
Liberty is essentially freedom of choice or self determinism.
Governments and criminals (or do I repeat myself) are the ones most involved in taking away liberty. Usually the reduction of liberty is done under the guise of “protection”. This is what has become called the “Nanny State.” The more they try to protect us – the more freedom we loose, the more it costs us and the greater the police state becomes.
For the most part, I don’t need or want the protection of the government. The war on drugs, for example, has not made me safer – nor has it kept drugs out of my reach or the reach of my children. The war on terror has certainly not made me safer and it seems calculated to create more terrorists than ever. The Federal Reserve System was created to protect me from economic instability and yet I am less safe economically than ever. The list goes on and on.
We need to get the government out of the protection racket.
